ViewSonic Launches Pro8100 HT Projector

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

After killer LCD monitors, ViewSonic has announced its entrance into the "luxury home theater lifestyle" category with the first offering in its Precision Series, the Pro8100 home theater projector. Just like every new release, Viewsonic claims that their Series of displays will "combine the latest in color performance, technology and design to provide high image quality with both standard and high definition sources".

The Pro8100 uses ViewSonic's proprietary Precision Color System (PCS), an image enhancement technology that renders natural colors with extensive tuning capabilities. The PCS chipset is the final gatekeeper to ensure accurate color reproduction by fine-tuning and correcting any errors of the front-end scalar. PCS features include 3D color management, auto contrast, H-Edge enhancement, 33 levels of gamma correction and a daylight mode function to automatically adjust the image based on the lighting environment. In addition, the Pro8100 features a Silicon Optix Reon processor with HQVTM that provides edge video processing to help eliminate feathering artifacts and "jaggies". Another notable feature is HDMI 1.3, the latest in the connection protocol.

Price and availability are unknown; but watch this space.... you'll know as soon as we know.
