Sony Launches 13.6 Megapixel Digicam

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

Sony's new Cyber-shot DSC-W300 digital camera is expected to be among the industry's most pocketable, high resolution point-and-shoot digital cameras.

The camera announced yesterday integrates a 13.6 megapixel CCD imager along with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.7-inch LCD screen and an eye-level viewfinder in a compact size. With its ultra-hard titanium coating, the model offers a premium look and finish that is highly-resistant to scratches and messy fingerprints.

The W300 camera newly features an “extra high-speed” burst mode that can shoot three-megapixel photos at five frames per second, ideal for fast-action shooting of sports, pets or children.

In addition to the blur-reducing effects of Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization, the camera also has a new "extra high sensitivity" mode (up to ISO 6400 in this mode only) to help minimize blurry photos when shooting in challenging lighting conditions, such as indoors or at twilight, even without a flash.

Sony’s Smile Shutter technology prioritizes the faces of children or adults so that the camera takes the photo at the moment the intended subject smiles. Improved face detection technology can also prioritize child or adult faces as the basis for the camera to apply focus, exposure, white balance and flash color controls for up to eight faces in the camera’s frame.

The model’s intelligent scene recognition technology automatically can detect five different types of scenes and optimize the camera settings for those conditions for a better photo. And advanced mode can take two shots almost immediately – one with standard automatic settings and the other with optimized settings.

The DSC-W300 camera and optional accessories will be available in the US in May for about $350 USD.

Viewsonic Releases 3 DLP Projectors

ViewSonic is on a roll; they are already claiming to be numero uno in projector sales, plus their previous DLP stuff hit the spot in the market. Now they have released 3 new ones – the PJ513D, PJ551D, and PJ560D – all including Texas Instruments' BrilliantColor Technology.

"Extending beyond the desktop, ViewSonic understands that home users, educators and busy professionals require easy-to-use projectors with outstanding image quality that fit within their budget," said Alan Chang, Managing Director of ViewSonic Americas, EMEA & Asia Pacific Regions. "These new feature-rich projectors demonstrate how ViewSonic is leveraging its leadership in desktop displays to deliver a complete portfolio of products with superior visual performance and quality that surpass customer expectations."

The new thing about these projectors, is that they sport a xcontrast ratio spec of 2000:1 - something of the LCD playground, not really DLP. Another feature is ViewMatch technology, which allows users to adjust individual color intensity for screen and printing matching and is able to project the real color performance. Lamp life has been extended to 3500 hours. Brightness is at 2200 lumens.

The PJ513D, PJ551D has a SVGA native resolution(800 x 600) and the PJ551D is 1024x768 XGA native resolution. The units offer three-year limited product warranty and leading industry lamp warranty for one year. The PJ551D costs Rs. 55,000, PJ560D is priced at Rs. 75,000 and the PJ 513D comes at a cost of Rs. 38,000

ViewSonic projector range is currently distributed in here by Redington India.

Sony refreshes Bravia home theater line for 2008

In 2007, Sony extended the previously TV-only Bravia moniker to cover its flagship all-in-one home theater systems for the first time. The branding extension must've been a success, because a new round of Bravia home-theater-in-a-box systems (HTIBs) is on deck for 2008. All four 2008 Bravia models will include the following baseline features. (Where applicable, we've taken the liberty of translating many of the terms from Sony-ese into English.)

* Single chassis DVD receiver: The amplifier/receiver includes a built-in 5-disc CD/DVD changer, with built-in support for standard Dolby and DTS surround modes.
* HDMI output: DVDs can be upscaled to 1080p resolution when connected to compatible HDTVs.
* 5.1 surround sound: Each system includes five satellite speakers and a subwoofer.
* Bravia Theatre Sync: Sony's implementation of HDMI-CEC lets the system interact with compatible Sony TVs when they're connected via HDMI, automating some processes such as input switching.
* Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC): This is simply the company's name for the built-in system that customizes the speaker levels to the particular sonics of your room.
* Dialogue Audio Enhancer: Otherwise known as "midnight mode," this feature normalizes volume levels for late-night viewing.
* DM Port compatibility: All Bravia systems include support for Sony's proprietary DM Port accessories: the TDM-NC1 Wi-Fi music streamer, the TDM-NW1 Sony Walkman MP3 player dock, and the TDM-BT1 Bluetooth adapter, all of which must be purchased separately.
* Outboard iPod dock: The fourth DM Port accessory, the TDM-IP1 iPod dock, is included.
* Wireless rear speakers: Each Bravia model includes an option to set up the two rear speakers wirelessly. (Whether the wireless speaker accessory is included or needs to be purchased separately varies from model to model.)
* S-AIR compatibility: New for 2008, the Bravia systems are compatible with Sony's proprietary S-AIR wireless technology, meaning they can stream music to a small speaker system (the AIR-SA10) located elsewhere in the home. (Whether the AIR-SA10 and its companion transmitter is included or needs to be purchased separately varies from model to model.)

Tiny Tactile MP3 Player Concept

We’re always on the lookout for MP3 players; especially those that are as small as possible – so they not only become convenient to carry but also give us that 007ish feel. And so, we were intrigued to hear that Yanko Designs have come up with a 'Tactile MP3 player'.

This device appears to be the size of a large Crocin tablet, with a shiny reflective surface on one side and a plain surface on the other. The plain side appears to have tiny raised dots, kind of like Braille. If you’ve figured it out, yup, those are the buttons for navigation.

The device is only at the conceptual stage as of now, so if you’re wondering where you can pick one up, sorry folks, you'll have to hold your horses. Stay tuned.

Intex Launches New Mobile Phone - IN 2020

Since they released a slew of mobiles ranging from models with 3.2 megapixel camera phones to basic entry-level handsets in December last year, Intex has been in the spotlight.

Ading to that list is the IN 2020. The highlight of this handset is it’s apparent ability to provide users with up to 7 hours plus of talk-time.

Other features the IN 2020 is equipped with include a recorder that allows users to record up to 5 minutes of music or voice and use it as their ringtones. Of course it also comes preloaded with Sing-Tones, 8 mobile games, a call block facility message support for Hindi and English and preloaded games. The IN 2020 also has regular features like a Currency Converter, World Clock, Alarm etc. What it seems to lack is an FM radio however. Then again it’s also a very base model handset for the minimalist audience.

Currently the IN 2020 is available for a price of Rs. 2000 and is available in suave red - black & orange-black combos.

ViewSonic Launches Pro8100 HT Projector

After killer LCD monitors, ViewSonic has announced its entrance into the "luxury home theater lifestyle" category with the first offering in its Precision Series, the Pro8100 home theater projector. Just like every new release, Viewsonic claims that their Series of displays will "combine the latest in color performance, technology and design to provide high image quality with both standard and high definition sources".

The Pro8100 uses ViewSonic's proprietary Precision Color System (PCS), an image enhancement technology that renders natural colors with extensive tuning capabilities. The PCS chipset is the final gatekeeper to ensure accurate color reproduction by fine-tuning and correcting any errors of the front-end scalar. PCS features include 3D color management, auto contrast, H-Edge enhancement, 33 levels of gamma correction and a daylight mode function to automatically adjust the image based on the lighting environment. In addition, the Pro8100 features a Silicon Optix Reon processor with HQVTM that provides edge video processing to help eliminate feathering artifacts and "jaggies". Another notable feature is HDMI 1.3, the latest in the connection protocol.

Price and availability are unknown; but watch this space.... you'll know as soon as we know.

Creative Adds More to The Zen Stone

It would seem like Creative just loves adding onto their already existing little player the Zen Stone. Their second version, the Zen Stone plus was equipped with a small OLED display and now they’ve taken it up a notch. The newest addition to the ‘Stone’ clan is the Zen Stone with Speaker.

Zen Stone

The inbuilt speaker will be present in both models, the Zen stone and the Zen Stone plus with the display. Their storage capacities will also remain unchanged.

Available in elegant matte black, dark blue, pink or champagne, the new ZEN Stone players feature a smooth, contoured design and are still very tiny players. A translucent silicon skin with a clip is included with the box, and an armband and ultra-portable keychain with a tiny case that carries the player are additional accessories that are available separately.

Zen Stone Plus

“The ZEN Stone and ZEN Stone Plus with built-in speakers free people from having to wear headphones to listen to their portable music,” says Sim Wong Hoo, chairman and CEO of Creative. “They enable users to enjoy music when they are on a walk or in a group and want to enjoy a conversation or hear what's going on around them,” he adds. “It's hard to believe that such incredibly small players can have a speaker that sounds so good, enabling people to share their music with friends, without headphones.”

Everything about the players will remain unchanged with regards to the drag and drop feature for file transfer and 3.5mm earphone out. The ZEN Stone will be available in 1GB and 2GB models; the ZEN Stone Plus, with screen, FM radio, voice recording, clock/stopwatch and customizable equalizer settings, will be available in 2GB and 4GB models.

The availability and prices of the new Zen Stones will be out shortly, but the 1 GB model is expected soon so stay tuned.

Motorola Unveils Hydrogen Cell Mobile Battery

What if you could power your mobile phone with nothing more than good old H2O? That would really be something!

Angstrom Power and teammate Motorola seem to have developed a way to power cellphones with a hydrogen fuel cell. Of course, it's still in the testing phase, with a prototype, but the concept is certainly interesting. Imagine, all you’ll need to do is fill up your cellphone with water – and voila, it’ll start working again.

Angstrom has already developed an LED flashlight that runs on a similar concept of a hydrogen fuel cell. The good thing is perhaps we can look forward to a cleaner planet in the not-so-distant future.

HP Pavilion dv9000t

HP Pavilion dv9000t
Hewlett-Packard Company
http://www.hp.com

Type: Gaming, Media
Operating System: MS Windows XP Media Center
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo T7400
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
RAM: 2048 MB
Weight: 8.5 lb
Screen Size: 17 inches
Screen Size Type: widescreen
Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce Go 7600
Storage Capacity: 200 GB
Networking Options: 802.11a/g
Primary Optical Drive: HD DVD-ROM/DVD+R DL

PC manufacturers are constantly striving to get Media Center laptops into your living room, and the integration of technology trends such as high-definition media content will only speed their passage. The HP Pavilion dv9000t is a fine example of what the future will bring. With a built-in HD DVD drive and the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor, this Media Center laptop is poised to share space with your couch.
If you’re at all familiar with HP’s latest Pavilion laptop line, you’re aware that it has undergone a major design overhaul. Like the smaller Pavilion dv2000z and dv6000t models, the dv9000t’s subtle, wavy patterns and finish help the line stand out from other consumer laptop designs. The glossy finish is similar to the one on Apple’s white MacBook (13-inch) except that it’s black, so it tends to attract more fingerprints. The imprinting technology used to create the wavy lines on the lid is HP’s own; the design, inspired by Japanese rock gardens, is unique to the Pavilion line.
To ensure that you get the most out of your movie experience, the dv9000t features a brightly lit, 17-inch widescreen. The 1,440-by-900 resolution is a little low for an HD laptop, though; true HD is 1,920-by-1,200, the resolution found on the Sony VAIO VGN-AR190G and the Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV650. You’ll still be able to get high-definition content at 720p (instead of 1080i and 1080p). The keyboard is pleasant to type on, and like all Pavilion mouse buttons, the dv9000t’s are both quiet and responsive.
HP spares no expense by integrating an HD DVD-ROM into the dv9000t. Proprietary HD playback software is bundled into the company’s QuickPlay 2.3 media player, which also works as a preboot player, so you can watch movies without booting Windows. Basically, HP elected to engineer its own playback software to avoid problematic apps such as Intervideo’s WinDVD HD or even Cyberlink’s PowerDVD HD, and so far, so good—playback quality was extremely pleasant. I couldn’t detect any artifacts or stuttering problems. Transitions were smooth using the chapter-skip buttons, and the fast-forward and rewind functions worked like a charm. You can also use the convenient touch-sensitive keys located above the keyboard to stop and play the movie, skip chapters, and adjust the volume during your HD DVD experience. Hardware options include the HP remote ($24), which fits snugly into the ExpressCard slot, or a Media Center remote, which will also work with QuickPlay 2.3.
Though you won’t be able to burn HD DVDs, the dv9000t does feature a dual-layer DVD burner, which is built into the HD DVD drive along with HP’s LightScribe etching capabilities. LightScribe lets you print labels using monochrome etching lasers to label the nonreadable side of the disc; so you can use it instead of your trusty ink jet printer and peel-off labels. The system also comes with dual 100GB hard drives (200GB total), so you’ll have more than enough space for all your videos, music files, and photos. HP also integrates an HDMI port (but no HDMI cable) so you can view your HD DVD titles on a larger display. Other notable features include a 1.3-megapixel webcam built into the top of the screen and two headphone ports in the center of the front bezel. Unfortunately, there’s still no TV tuner. I’d like to see one in the future, similar to the ones found on the Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV650 and the Sony VAIO VGN-AR190G.

Like the dv6000t, the dv9000t has received the latest Intel processor upgrade. Coupled with 2GB of RAM, the formidable 2.16-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 processor generated SYSmark 2004 SE scores similar to those of the Alienware Area-51 m5550 and the WinBook T231. But unlike the m5550 and the T231, which had trouble keeping the heat under 100 degrees (Fahrenheit), the dv9000t managed to maintain a cool and steady 85 degrees at the base of the unit. It also finished my video-encoding tests in less than 6 minutes, and its handling of Adobe Photoshop scripts was equally impressive. (Editors’ note: As of this writing, HP informed us that the T7400 processor won’t be available on its dv9000 series of laptops. The 2-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 will be the fastest processor available. Check back soon for our update on benchmark-test results with the T7200.)

The dv9000t’s nVidia GeForce Go 7600 graphics card will let you play games such as Doom 3 and FEAR with ease; it’s the same graphics card found on the Alienware Area-51 m5550 and the Velocity Micro NoteMagix L80 Ultra. Battery life, as expected, is not great. But at least 2 hours 43 minutes is enough time to get through a movie.

The HP Pavilion dv9000t is a great Media Center laptop, especially if you’re in the market for an HD DVD-ROM drive. It carries the best HD playback software to date, and its pricing ($2,395 direct) is in line with that of the Toshiba G35-AV650 ($2,399). These features plus the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor make the dv9000t a solid laptop for your home office or, of course, your living room.

Samsung SC-MHX10-hit future

samsung-sc-hmx10-news.jpg

The segment HD-videokame r growing competition from flash memory. That is why manufacturers are trying to reduce prices and increase internal memory. A good example SC-MHX10 Samsung, which will appear on the market in September this year at a cost of less than 800 dollars. ? Sony HandyCam HDR-CX7 ? Panasonic HDC-SD.This will be much cheaper than its competitors Sony and Panasonic HandyCam HDR-CX7 HDC-SD. 8 gb memory should be enough for 80 minutes of video imagery in solving 1080i. .The camera will be equipped with optical zoom and ten 2,7-dyuymovym display.

It is regrettable that Samsung did not have to issue that nuts to start their summer vacations.I think that autumn is the best time to buy the camera.

Canon IXUS i review

Canon takes their task as leader in the field of digital photography very seriously. And however the design is a strong point on the new Canon Digital IXUS i Zoom, Canon realizes that quality has to go hand in hand with the design in order to be able to continue the success of the Digital IXUS line. The following Canon Digital IXUS i review will get you acquainted with the performance of Canon’s new showpiece. canonpowershotsd30_2.jpg

But despite this, LetsGoDigital Cifrovik called this the best choice for those who are looking for a sleek design, good quality photos and ease of management.
